How about the Christmas markets? They will also be present throughout the city. In this article, we suggest five markets that you shouldn’t miss.
Enjoy your stay at Hotel Roma and explore the charms of Lisbon at this wonderful time of the year!
Alvalade Christmas Market
Until December 17th, Alvalade hosts the typical market that, every year, spreads joy to those who pass by. And if “who goes through Alcobaça doesn't pass without returning”, those that go through the Alvalade Christmas Market don't pass without buying. Delicious delicacies, original and handcrafted gifts, everyone finds themselves in the agitation of this fair, gaining curious glances from the traditional wooden houses that run along Avenida da Igreja. As for the little ones, they can always ask for their Christmas wishes in advance at Santa Claus' gracious house.
Campo Pequeno Christmas Market
If traditional commerce is on your Christmas shopping checklist, the Campo Pequeno Christmas Market is a must-visit place. With more than 10 years of history, this market proposes “Celebrating Christmas, wrapping up love” through a varied offer, with suggestions for design, fashion, jewellery or decoration gifts, toys, books, among others. Along with appealing stands that surprise you with original Christmas gifts, here you will also have the opportunity to taste gourmet gastronomy and distinctive wines. Celebrate the Christmas spirit in a market located in one of the most emblematic areas of Lisbon. Waiting for you until December 10th!
Wonderland Lisboa
Let yourself be enveloped by the magic of Lisbon's biggest Christmas fair. Back to the Parque Eduardo VII, one of the most awaited Christmas markets of the year returns with free entry to delight kids and adults. In addition to the traditional Giant wheel, 26 metres high, and the roller-skating rink, Wonderland Lisboa offers attractions for everyone, such as: trampolines, giant Christmas tree, Christmas train, Aldeia dos Afetos, children's playground, track for small cars and stands with typical Christmas food and drinks. In this fairy tale setting, you will find a real Christmas village, including magical corners, perfect for taking “instagrammable” photos. Don’t miss it, until January 1st, 2024!
Rossio Christmas Market
Live music, seasonal gastronomy and gifts are guests of honour at the Rossio Christmas Market. Until December 23rd, Baixa-Chiado will gain new colours, sounds and flavours, and will feature attractions such as a Christmas train and a Santa Claus’ house. In between make-believe games, at this market, parents and children will be able to see the Hospital de Bonecas exhibition, taste typical sweets and imagine that they are in Lapland with a tram ride. To visit with family, from Sunday to Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday, Saturday and holiday eve, from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Carnide Christmas Market
Finish your Christmas journey at Largo das Pimenteiras. This is where the Carnide Christmas Market takes place, until December 17th. With a welcoming atmosphere, here you will find a real display of handicrafts, gastronomy and lots of entertainment. Perfect for visiting with family or friends, this market has good surprises throughout four days, where there will be no shortage of sweets and joy. In addition to the Christmas lights and the nativity scene in the churchyard of Igreja da Luz, you can also find a community Christmas tree, which comes to life every year to feed the dreams of those who need it most. And because music is an ingredient that cannot be missing, there is a promised Christmas concert, at Igreja da Luz, for all those who choose to stop by (and walk around!).
After a day full of Christmas experiences, return to the comfort of Hotel Roma, your hotel in Lisbon. It is there that you will find the perfect setting to celebrate this festive season. With a buffet menu for Christmas Dinner and Lunch, the restaurant at this 3-star hotel in the centre of Lisbon offers a welcoming environment for the whole family. At Roma Winebar, you can discover more than 150 national wines and a sommelier at your disposal.
